Education
ECD
The children of age 5+ years are encouraged, motivated and prepared for one year in pre-schools (ECD center) and mainstream them in the primary education cycle.
Adult & Continuous Education
In the field of adult literacy, BACE has been implementing REFLECT method and continuing education through “Lokokendra” and “Gonokendra” which give equal weight to 3 main aims-empowerment, education and social change. It is an education practice in its broadest terms in that it aims to develop the social awareness and livelihood skills of poor people in rural and often very remote communities.
Scholarship/Stipend
BACE is the pioneer organization to introduce stipend/scholarship for the secondary level students specially the girls in early eighty’s and encouraged government & other international organizations to replicate the program all over Bangladesh.
At present BACE is confined with stipend program for the poor and meritorious students with the support of local contribution like “Dr. Sattar Trust Fund” (Founder of BACE) and BERGER paints Bangladesh Ltd.
Higher Education
In the field of higher education BACE sponsored the “Karfulennesa Residential Women’s College” in Chandpur district.
Human Resource Development
Vocational Training: BACE has been implementing low cost, non-formal general education and provide skill development training to the poor youths (male & female) with duration of 3-8 months. The courses are: Electrical house wiring, Mechanical, Freeze & Air-conditioner repair, Lathe & Welding, Computer, Carpentry, Industrial & domestic Sewing, embroidery, block-boutique and tie dye, automobile, music, dance etc.
Livelihood
Besides vocational training, BACE has been providing livelihood training to the adults’ under different projects. The courses are: bamboo, cane and straw card making products, cow fattening, poultry, nursery, agriculture and vegetable farming etc.
Micro finance/Credit program
BACE Experience shows that one of the reasons for the children remaining out of school or dropping out was poverty of the parents which compelled such Children to earn their livelihood or work as a support hand to their parents. As a remedial measure BACE undertook credit support program along with the Education and training program to improve the economic conditions of the landless and poor people.
Health Care
BACE started the health care project in Dinajpur district to ensure health facilities for children and disadvantaged community people by which target population is aware on preventive health care and hygiene, sensitize parents for immunization of children and mothers, provide First Aid and primary health care services to parents and children, motivate household to use safe water, motivate households to use sanitary latrines and personal cleanliness, provide family planning devices counseling services to eligible couples and provide out door consultation/treatment of ailing patients.
Environment
Under environmental program, BACE motivate and aware the community people for tree plantation and climate change issues. BACE distributes saplings, water sealed latrine among the community people and also organizes seminar/workshops/meeting on environmental issues.
Disaster Management
The central focus of this program is on reducing risks and the vulnerability to disasters through innovative endeavors in the education sector. The program addresses the risks and the vulnerabilities with the following four objectives:
- Enhance coordinated and informed actions of national level platform for reducing disaster risks in education.
- Increase capacity of stakeholders on sustainable preparedness measures to reduce disaster risks in education.
- Stimulate organized actions for emergency response and recovery in education
- Facilitate actions for integrating education needs in DRR mechanism and making education system resilient to DRR.
Human Rights and & Governance
BACE has been working with the villagers by forming male and female groups building their capacity to take part in decision making process to exercise their rights and act for creating a just society with social and economic resources. In this regard Lokokendra (LK) and Gonokendra (GK) have been established to act as active citizens of Bangladesh and increase their quality of life through education leading to empowerment and social change. BACE is also working with the rural children to ensure their rights through preparatory education.
Networking
BACE works individually as well as in partnership with-GOB and other NGO network. BACE is General Member of FNB (Federation of NGOS of Bangladesh), Bangladesh Shishu Adikar Forum, Council Member of CAMPE (Campaign for Popular Education), Affiliated Member of Population Control and Family Planning, Network membership with CDF (Credit and Development Forum), Social Accountability for Justice and Good Governance (SAJaGG) and Thematic partnership with ATSEC (Action against Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children), Bangladesh Human Rights Coordination Council (BHRCC) etc.
Publication
Gonoshikkha the monthly BACE newsletter disseminates information on community education, women in development, nutrition, environment, primary health care, family life education, family planning and rural development with 4 pages for community education for Neo-literates. BACE also publishes a good number of books and reports on community education.

BACE receives support for its activities from Govt. of Bangladesh as well as donor agencies such as, Bridge of Light-Germany, Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), Action Aid Bangladesh (AAB), Berger Paints, donation from individual and Institutions and subscription from BACE members.
